About 5 Mariner Terrace — Harbour View Estates III Condos
Think you’re the biggest Blue Jays fan in town? Do you live next door to the Rogers Centre? If not, take a number, because you’re way down the depth chart. Located at 5 Mariner Terrace and 3 Navy Wharf Court, Harbour View Estates III Condos is 37 storey glass tower, situated right beside the Rogers Centre. And while this is mostly speculation — the biggest Jays fans live here.
Part of the CityPlace neighbourhood, this building comes with the same extensive amenities as offered by most condos in the area, housed in a 30,000 square foot amenity centre called Super Club; amenities include a pool, sauna, squash courts, tennis courts, basketball courts, bowling, party room, meeting room, concierge, security guard, and parking garage. As the name suggests, this building has 2 siblings — Harbour View Estates I Condos and Harbour View Estates II Condos
Living in CityPlace affords residents with a balance of natural scenery and urban convenience — walk a few minutes south and you’re immersed in lakeside parks, head north and you’ll land in the Entertainment District. This property is ideally suited to young professionals, couples, and small families. Empty nesters might enjoy this building as well, but the neighbourhood does have a youthful vibe, which plays a role in there being so many CityPlace condos for rent, and plenty of turnover in terms of residents.
The Suites
One of the best bonuses of 5 Mariner Terrace is the waterfront views. With south facing units on higher floors, you can awaken to picturesque views of Lake Ontario. Those with east facing units, can look into the Rogers Centre when the dome is open.
This complex is home to 597 units, available in studio, 1 bedroom, 1 bedroom + den, 2 bedroom, 2 bedroom + den, and 3 bedroom suites; unit sizes range from 383 square feet for a studio to 2113 for a penthouse suite. The building was completed in 2006, so all units are move in ready, but putting your own personal touch on one of these condos is likely to yield a nice return down the line.
All units are filled with light thanks to floor to ceiling windows — this is especially true for corner units, which offer panoramic views. Suites have modern kitchens with breakfast bars, granite countertops, and stainless steel appliances. All suites have private balconies, and if you’re feeling cramped, you’re only minutes from lakeside parks.
Unlike many neighbourhoods in Toronto which are steeped in history, CityPlace was designed from the ground up as a high density neighbourhood. As the new kid on the block, this neighbourhood has drawn its share of cheers and jeers, but one thing that cannot be denied is how well this neighbourhood balances access to nature and urban convenience.
The Neighbourhood
From your front door at 5 Mariner Terr and 3 Navy Wharf Crt, you’re mere minutes for HTO Park where you can stretch out in the sun on a manufactured sandy beach. Recreation enthusiasts can go for a jog on the Martin Goodman Trail, or enjoy bike trails, rowing, yachting, and a variety of recreational activities.
Blue Jays fans can walk to the Rogers Centre in under 2 minutes — yes, that’s right, less than 2 minutes. Gone are the days of $20 parking and packed streetcars, and after the game, you can enjoy a celebratory drink at nearby sports bars like St. Louis Bar & Grill and Fox and Fiddle Cityplace.
For dining out, you can stroll south to Queens Quay for Pizzaiolo Gourmet Pizza, Spice Thai Café, Gonoe Sushi, Subway, and Amsterdam BrewHouse. Should you desire a larger selection, you’ll find a wide array of international restaurants in the Entertainment District like Milagro, Luma, Byblos, Penelope Restaurant, La Fenice, and more.
If nightlife is what you crave then you’ve come to the right place. Craft beer aficionados can check out what’s on tap at Bar Hop, C’est What and Loose Moose. Music fans can catch local talent at N'Awlins, The Antler Room, and Adelaide Hall. Or if you just want to dance the night away, there’s The Fifth Social Club, Tequila Jacks Toronto, Cake Bar & Nightclub, and countless others.
Transportation
5 Mariner Terr and 3 Navy Wharf Crt boast a 93 Walk Score — as a resident of this building, you can easily run errands the greener way; for groceries and the essentials, there’s Sobeys Urban Fresh Spadina and Shoppers Drug Mart within a 5 minute walk.
Public transit riders have streetcar stops nearby on Spadina Avenue and Queens Quay, buses on Fort York Blvd, and Union Station is roughly a 10 minute walk away for subway lines and GO Transit.
Car owners are about as close to the Gardiner Expressway as could be — head south on Spadina to Lake Shore Blvd for the nearest on-ramp.
