About 353 Beech Avenue — Beech House Condos
While it sounds too good to be true — the Beech House Condos is located in the highly sought-after Beaches neighbourhood at 353 Beech Avenue — the manpower behind these homes is what makes them so ideal. The co-development team consisted of an experienced private housing company, Mitchell Lofts, and a beloved community organization, the YMCA of Greater Toronto, and as a result, prospective buyers have been this modern boutique building ever since.
Mitchell Lofts, developers of the first legal loft condo conversion in 1982, brought their experience along in order to help execute this aspirational building in 2018. What exactly are these aspirations we speak of? For one, the YMCA has directed the designer Richard Ziegler of RZA to create a modern, engaging spaces for both those living at 353 Beech and the community at large.
And Ziegler did not disappoint. The six-storey Beach House Condos step back as they rise, showcasing a plethora or private terraces facing south towards Lake Ontario. Conversely, towards Kingston, the stone, brick and stucco façade frames the structure’s glass volumes — a vibrant interplay that’s reflective of what’s inside.
As expected of a development by the YMCA, a two-storey 50,000 square-foot facility is also located on site. This state-of-the-art YMCA includes a full-size indoor swimming pool and therapy pool, a gym, fitness studios, childcare services and programs for youth and community members. Beech House Condos’ Residents receive a free two-year membership to the YMCA, which is an asset not just to them, but to the entire Beaches community as well.
The Suites
Upon first coming home after a long day, walking through the entrance on Beech Avenue lands residents in a glass-clad lobby facing west, offering spectacular views of the city. Of course, such a warm welcome wouldn’t be as impressive if Toronto condos for sale within weren’t similarly well designed. Fortunately, the 95 east end Toronto condos at 353 Beech Ave more than meet expectations — they’re modern and luxurious living spaces.
Though the suites range in size from around 800 to almost 2,300 square feet, all feel expansive, especially since Mitchell Lofts consulted with prospective homeowners to design their layouts. While exposures vary, the interior fixtures and finishes throughout the building promise a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere: in kitchens, countertops are made of natural stone or quartz; spacious balconies and terraces come with gas barbecue connections; and the suites even contain gas fireplaces.
The Neighbourhood
The tree-lined Beech Avenue leads directly to Lake Ontario, about a ten-minute walk from the Beech House Condos. This natural escape with its sandy, sun-drenched shores, will fill the Beech House Condos residents’ summer schedules — if they so please. Moreover, the Glen Stewart Ravine is another lush landscape that happens to be located right across the street from 353 Beech Ave.
Nevertheless, the Beaches attracts more than just outdoorsy types. Around the corner from the Beech House Condos, an assortment of charming restaurants and shops can be found. On the way to the beach, some residents might even find themselves enchanted by Queen Street East’s offerings, making their walk take a little longer than expected.
Boasting many local businesses, Queen East is the main commercial street in the Beaches. Amidst its eclectic bakeries, cafés, bookstores, and boutiques, the Fox Theatre is right off Beech Avenue as well. The second oldest movie theatre in the city, it’s perhaps as charming today as it was when it opened in 1914 (even after the careful restorations carried out in 2007).
Transportation
Being so close to Kingston Road means both those who do and don’t drive can get around the city easily from 353 Beech. A number of TTC Buses and Streetcars make stops at the corner of Beech and Kingston. Amongst them the 503 Streetcar may be most frequently used by residents of the Beech House Condos: it carries riders from the Beaches downtown to St. Andrew Station on King Street in about twenty minutes.
For those who drive, Kingston is a major road that leads east, carrying cars directly to the 401 in about 20 minutes. When heading to (or through) the downtown Core to the west, drivers can turn off Kingston and south onto Woodbine Avenue. This roadway turns into Lakeshore Boulevard East, which moves quickly throughout the city, and offers access to both the Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway in no time.
