About 18 Wanless Avenue — The Residences of Wanless Park
Any prospective buyer attracted to the highly sought-after Yonge and Lawrence neighbourhood would be wise to consider the Residences of Wanless Park. A longstanding fixture, 18 Wanless Ave can be found just north of where Lawrence Avenue meets Yonge Street. This stately edifice is also hard to miss, since the corner lot also happens to face Yonge.
Completed in 2001 by Plazacorp, the building stands at 7-storeys tall. While the building is technically a contemporary construction, its prominent location in a prestigious neighbourhood and its distinguished, traditional architecture work together to trick the eye: one might even mistake 18 Wanless Ave for a heritage building.
Retail businesses can be found occupying the ground level, which is clad in stone and highlighted by elegantly cast sculptural details. Stone accents such as a wraparound cornice make their way up the façade of the building, however the upper levels mostly feature an unfussy brick exterior. As beautiful as the brickwork is, more importantly it acts as the perfect canvas for the Residences of Wanless Park Condos’ sophisticated black metal balustrades, which give the building’s many private balconies an eye-catching pop.
Finally, the condos' primary entrance sits tucked away from Yonge, nestled in its east side’s courtyard garden — and this courtyard’s just one of the lush landscapes: Residents also enjoy access to a spacious rooftop terrace with great views of the skyline in the horizon. Those outdoor spaces, as well as a well-equipped exercise room, a party room and a versatile meeting room, make up the alluring selection of amenities offered to those living at 18 Wanless Ave.
The Suites
The boutique building contains just 65 Toronto condos. These range in size from approximately 600 to 1,450 square feet, and consist of one-bedroom-plus-den and two-bedroom floor plans. And many of these living spaces extend out onto private balconies or top-level terraces as well.
Regardless of whichever suite one their eye on, all Toronto condos for sale here feel warm and welcoming, thanks to the natural light that flows in through their large windows and reflects off of the hardwood flooring. And, to top it all off, the suites are made even cozier with the addition of wood burning fireplaces.
The Neighbourhood
Situated just north of the intersection of Yonge and Lawrence, 18 Wanless Ave is situated just northwest of the prestigious Lawrence Park neighbourhood. The area is known for its natural landscapes, its multiple schools, and public services like the nearby Locke Public Library on the southeast corner of Yonge and Lawrence — just about a three-minute walk from the condos.
Nonetheless, when looking to dine out or indulge in some shopping, residents can simply head north up Yonge Street. An eclectic array of restaurants, café, and boutiques lines the street, starting steps from 18 Wanless Ave. Although these eateries can be enticing, residents can’t eat out everyday — making the Metro across the street from the building all the more convenient.
Transportation
Getting around the city is easy for residents — even without a car. Lawrence Station, on the Yonge subway line, sits just as close as the nearby Locke Library, at the northwest corner of Yonge and Lawrence.
18 Wanless Ave is also optimally located for those who drive. The streets in the immediate area move well, especially when it isn’t rush hour. Residents can even reach the 401 in approximately five minutes, by heading a few blocks north on Yonge Street.
