About 1375 Dupont Street — Chelsea Lofts
Perhaps a nod to a loved one of the developer, the name for the Chelsea Lofts is more likely yet another attempt to associate Toronto homes with the vibes of New York City. Other Toronto residences have used titles that hint at the Big Apple as leverage, such as the Tribeca and the Flatiron Lofts, to name a few.
What allows the Chelsea Lofts to stand out from the crowd, then, is this industrial feeling soft loft’s location in the more residential, laid-back Dovercourt & Wallace Emerson-Junction area. Surrounded by single-family homes, and set just slightly northwest of the more hectic downtown core, the homes at 1375 Dupont Street marry metropolitan style with the pleasantness and tranquility that accompanies being on the fringe.
At a modest 7-storeys tall, 72 Toronto lofts fill the classic red brick structure. Namara Developments Inc constructed the Chelsea Lofts in 2005, and following its completion the homes were quickly occupied by some of the city’s most perceptive residents. As the neighbourhood becomes less of a hidden gem — and more of an obvious choice — home seekers will all want a piece of 1375 Dupont
The Suites
The individual lofts found at 1375 Dupont can be petite in terms of their dimensions, but what they lack in size they make up for in quality and character. Toronto condos for sale in this building range from around 300 to 950 square feet, meaning the largest of the lofts are still substantial enough for a small family to inhabit.
With either one or two bedrooms, each loft features hardwood floors, exposed ductwork, and concrete ceilings and pillars. Thanks to the open concept layouts, 9-foot ceilings, and bright sunlight pouring in through floor-to-ceiling windows, the homes at the Chelsea Lofts never feel cramped.
Balconies also offer residents an added sense of space, with the option to relax in the outdoors when the weather permits. And due to the slight elevation provided by the Dupont Street Address, views from the lofts are quite astounding.
The Neighbourhood
When not home enjoying one’s own loft (or the party room or shared rooftop terrace), residents of the Chelsea Lofts can often be found taking a stroll along the charming residential streets in the area. The Dovercourt & Wallace Emerson-Junction neighbourhood is home to imaginative businesses along both Wallace Avenue and Bloor Street West.
Whether grabbing a coffee at Wallace Espresso or stocking up at Henriques Supermarket, the focus here is on locally sourced and quality goods. On Bloor, trendy bars and restaurants have similarly been cropping up in recent years, covering everything from Scandinavian smoked fish at Karelia Kitchen to Canadian fare at Burdock, and more.
Transportation
Travel to and from the 1375 Dupont is made simple with its location at the corner of Dupont and Lansdowne. Buses travel along both of these roads, offering residents the opportunity to travel north, south, east, and west. Just a short walk down to Bloor connects travelers with Lansdowne subway station on the Bloor-Danforth line. Alternatively, Dupont station on the University-Spadina line can be reached via a 10-minute drive or bus ride.
Drivers will make great use of Lansdowne Avenue and Dupont Street, both ideal roads that are less heavily trafficked than those nearer to the centre of the downtown area. Car owners can also easily reach the Gardiner Expressway via Jameson Avenue, or the 401 by way of Allen Road.
